Meet Luke, the last Class of 2013 senior I had the pleasure of photographing this year. Luke will be graduating from Huntington High School at the end of this month. I had more time to work with Luke during his session, so we traveled to several locations in Huntington to capture his senior portraits. We started at his house and headed out into town stopping in a couple spots at Ritter Park before making our way to an awesome location on the west end (Luke’s dad found the spot, btw!). Luke is involved in several extracurricular clubs at HHS including Student Council, Key Club and Young Democrats. He enjoys working out in his free time.

Luke will be attending Marshall University in the fall majoring in either communications or political science. It was great working with Luke and his parents during the session…check out a few of my favorites!

Meet Evan, Class of 2013 senior attending Huntington High School and graduating at the end of the month. Evan is a member of the HHS Soccer team and enjoys playing guitar. I saw Evan earlier in his senior year when I photographed the HHS Soccer team’s Homecoming dinner, but didn’t really get to meet him. During his portrait session, we got to talk a bit and I learned that he will be heading to Vanderbilt in the fall and plans to study economics. Evan was very comfortable in front of the camera and easy to work with. Good luck in the fall, Evan and enjoy your summer.

AJ, meet AJ.

Yup, same initials so I knew this was going to be a fun session! Just so there’s no confusion, Austin (aka male AJ) is a senior at Spring Valley High School and will be graduating this month. AJ is a member of the SVHS Soccer team and enjoys weight lifting and gaming. I met up with AJ the day after his senior prom, but you wouldn’t know he was out partying the night before from his session images. He was great to work with…easy-going and funny…paired with a beautiful location, how could I go wrong? I couldn’t!

AJ plans to attended Marshall University in the fall and major in either economics or something in the medical field. Best of luck to you AJ!

This HHS Senior might look familiar…he is an AMF Senior Rep for the Class of 2013 and his mini-session was featured on the blog last year. This time around Andrew decided on a more urban feel for his full senior session. We started out in the alleys near the Steel of West Virginia and then ventured a little too close to their actual property line…which we eventually found out was private property (whoops!). Luckily, I got some nice shots before being informed of my innocent mistake (mental note made). We made our way around the area ending up by a cool abandoned building for some car shots.

Andrew plans to major in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Maryland. Enjoy your summer, Andrew!

What’s this?! Another senior guy! Campbell is a senior at Huntington High School and will be graduating next month with the Class of 2013. I met up with Campbell and his mom the morning of his Senior Prom. It was going to be a very long day full of pictures for him. The weather was great…a bit cold, but sunny. Okay it was VERY cold in the shade and any time the wind blew, but we all worked through it.

Campbell plays tennis for HHS and enjoys several other outdoor sports like mountain biking and snow boarding. He also has a creative side, expressing himself through music and photography. (Yay! a fellow photographer) After graduation, Campbell will be heading to Virginia Tech  to major in Engineering. Check out a few of my favorites from Campbell’s session.

The weather is starting to get warmer again and that means back out and about for portraits! Last Wednesday, I meet Loy for his senior portrait session in Huntington. I have to thank Loy for putting up with my rambling and non-stop shooting…I tried to keep it under control I really did, but he was so easy to work with and after shooting events during the colder weather it was so nice to be out again! We walked around some of the alleyways and local buildings before stopping by MU’s campus for a few shots. We talked about traveling, which he does a lot of, and his plans after graduating from Huntington High this May. After a bit of traveling and relaxing with friends, he will be heading to Miami University to study Engineering. I had a great time working with Loy…check out a few of my favorites from his session!

It was great to get to work with Braddick again a few weekends ago for her full portrait session. Braddick is one of AMF’s senior reps for the Class of 2013 and we did her mini-rep session during the summer. If you missed the post…check it out here. This time around, I meet Braddick at her Grandmother’s house and it was the perfect backdrop for a fall portrait session! The temperature was nice and mild that day, so as far as I’m concerned it was PERFECT weather for taking pictures. Great backdrop and a great subject always makes my job easy. A couple of weeks ago, I got to work with Molly, a senior at Huntington High school for the second time. The first time around she was part of a Friends Session I photographed in 2010. I’m so glad I got to work with her again for her senior portraits! Because I’m an on-location photographer, the weather is always a concern when planning a portrait session and the weather forecast was threatening rain for Molly’s session. However, we lucked out with a beautiful day and got to start the session at her home before heading off to Ritter Park. I want to make sure to thank Molly’s mom for helping out during the session too…thank you for holding the reflector! We had the opportunity to take some photos at a dance studio after leaving the park. Molly currently takes dance at Bridget’s Dance Academy here in Huntington, and it was so fun to work at the studio (thanks Bridget!). I have NO background in dance, and Molly was so nice and put up with me asking her to do “that move where you point your toe like this…” or “you know the one where you stand with your feet crossed…”. I had no clue, but Molly did great. Check out a few images from Molly’s session.

Molly’s Faith is very important to her, so we made sure to get some pictures with her bible.

I’ve changed the senior rep program slightly this year, and so far I’m so glad I did. One difference this year is I’ve included a mini-session. The purpose of the mini-session is to get to meet the senior rep and their parent(s) BEFORE their full session. It has allowed me to get to know them a bit and capture initial images for all of their rep materials. It will also help in the planning of their full session later in the year and I hope make them more comfortable to ask questions and or give suggestions on how to make the rep program even better.

With that said, I’d like to introduce Braddick our second AMF Senior Rep.

I met Braddick and her mom for her mini-session last week and it was great to get to work with both of them. I loved Braddick’s cute outfit, especially her colorful belt! Braddick is a senior at Huntington High School and plays on the Girls’ Soccer team. She is most looking forward to graduation, and even though today is the first day of classes for HHS…the year will fly by! She enjoys all kinds of music and when asked if I could hand her concert tickets for this weekend, she said she’d probably like to see Drake. (I really need to stay on top of today’s music! I’ll be checking out the link later myself.) Braddick plans to continue to play soccer in college and study Physical Therapy.

It will be nice to work with Braddick again later in the year, but for now, check out some of the images from her mini-session.
